'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory earned a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way his former team played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
